What I’m looking forward to on New Comics Wednesday!

Holy carp! I have a lot of comics to buy this week (and it’s a 5th week!), and I can’t wait to read so many of them.

BEDLAM #1: From Previews: Fillmore Press was once Madder Red, a homicidal maniac and criminal overlord who terrorized the town of Bedlam for years. Then he got better. This is what happens next. Umm, how can you not buy this title based on that description? Plus, a cover by Frazer Irving!

CBLDF LIBERTY ANNUAL 2012 #5: I always enjoy the eclectic offerings of this annual, and I feel good about contributing to those who have provided so much entertainment for so many years and need help.

GHOSTS #1: Halloween is my favorite holiday, so any comics that tie into this are always on my radar. Plus, this title is an anthology, so it feels like you’re getting more bang for your buck.

JOE KUBERT PRESENTS #1: I knew I had to order this, and then with Mr. Kubert’s passing, it’s now a must read. I’m really glad DC decided to publish this before the artist’s untimely death.

LOT 13 #1: More horror for the holiday!

NEW DEADWARDIANS #8: SIGH This fantastic series ends. If you missed out on this limited series be sure to pick up the inevitable trade–you will not be disappointed.

RACHEL RISING #12: It’s Terry Moore. ‘Nuff said.

SUPERMAN: EARTH ONE HC VOL 02: I reviewed volume 1 of this title back in Episode 3 (almost two years ago!) and liked it quite a bit. I’m very curious if JMS can continue the story successfully. Plus, I’m glad to see that still Superman has his more traditional uniform.

The rest of what I’m getting this week is listed here.

What I’m looking forward to on New Comics Wednesday!

Yes, I’m a day late and more than a few dollars short, but still, there are some good comics coming to me that I’m excited to read.

BEFORE WATCHMEN: SILK SPECTRE #2: After the lovely introduction that was issue one, I can’t wait to see how this series progresses.

CAPTAIN MARVEL #1: I love the Captain Marvel character, and have really enjoyed the modern Ms. Marvel, especially after reading several volumes of the Mighty Avengers, so how will Carol carry on the legacy of Captain Marvel? I’m curious to find out how Kelly Sue DeConnick will accomplish that.

EXTERMINATION #2: Issue one wasn’t quite what I expected (both in good and bad ways), so this issue may make or break this book for me.

RACHEL RISING #9: It’s Terry Moore, what else do you need to know?

RESET #4: I’m really curious how this quirky book, but interesting premise, will end.

SAGA #5: Duh.

Podcast Episode 28: A Conversation with Peter Rios

On the big show today is part one of a conversation I had with Peter Rios. If you don’t know who Peter is, he is a founding member of the Comic Geek Speak podcast and overall comics aficionado. Peter was very gracious to spend over four hours (!) talking with me about a plethora of topics (see below), part of which was our talk about Terry Moore‘s fantastic series, Rachel Rising.

  • Intro
  • 2:30 Podcasting discussion
  • 12:45 Theatre talk
  • 36:00 Comic talk, featuring the Denver Comic Con, the New 52, Before Watchmen, the DC Nation shorts (and upcoming Teen Titans Go! animated series) & summer superhero movie talk.
  • 1:28:55 Rachel Rising discussion (warning: spoilers!)

I had a wonderful time talking with Peter, and I hope you enjoy it too. Stay tuned for the next episode where Peter and I talk about New Teen Titans: Games (and Peter makes an announcement!).
