What I’m looking forward to on New Comics Wednesday!

Holy carp! I have a lot of comics to buy this week (and it’s a 5th week!), and I can’t wait to read so many of them.

BEDLAM #1: From Previews: Fillmore Press was once Madder Red, a homicidal maniac and criminal overlord who terrorized the town of Bedlam for years. Then he got better. This is what happens next. Umm, how can you not buy this title based on that description? Plus, a cover by Frazer Irving!

CBLDF LIBERTY ANNUAL 2012 #5: I always enjoy the eclectic offerings of this annual, and I feel good about contributing to those who have provided so much entertainment for so many years and need help.

GHOSTS #1: Halloween is my favorite holiday, so any comics that tie into this are always on my radar. Plus, this title is an anthology, so it feels like you’re getting more bang for your buck.

JOE KUBERT PRESENTS #1: I knew I had to order this, and then with Mr. Kubert’s passing, it’s now a must read. I’m really glad DC decided to publish this before the artist’s untimely death.

LOT 13 #1: More horror for the holiday!

NEW DEADWARDIANS #8: SIGH This fantastic series ends. If you missed out on this limited series be sure to pick up the inevitable trade–you will not be disappointed.

RACHEL RISING #12: It’s Terry Moore. ‘Nuff said.

SUPERMAN: EARTH ONE HC VOL 02: I reviewed volume 1 of this title back in Episode 3 (almost two years ago!) and liked it quite a bit. I’m very curious if JMS can continue the story successfully. Plus, I’m glad to see that still Superman has his more traditional uniform.

What I’m looking forward to on New Comics Wednesday!

BATMAN #13: The Joker is back and under Mr. Snyder’s skillful pen.

HALLOWEEN EVE: I love Halloween tie-in comics, and this is one of two that I ordered this year.

PHANTOM STRANGER #1: Ok, “looking forward to” is perhaps pushing it, but I am genuinely interested in 1) seeing where DC takes this character now and 2) if the writing improves over the zero issue.

POINT OF IMPACT #1: When I saw this in Previews, I was immediately drawn to the premise.

TEAM 7 #1: Mostly, I’m getting this to see the history of the DCU unfold, but based on the zero issue, I don’t think I’ll stick with this comic beyond six issues. But that’s part of the fun of comics: trying new things and being delighted at times.

UNCANNY AVENGERS #1: Both from a comic book fan and commentator perspectives, how can I not be looking forward to reading this?
