Here’s a video (using Google Hangout) where I discuss certain comics that have a special memory for me.

Comics discussed:

  • Legion of Super-Heroes (1980) #305
  • New Teen Titans (1980) #4
  • New Teen Titans (1980) Annual #2
  • Brave and the Bold (1955) #182
  • Amazing Spider-Man (1963) #187
  • Marvel Tales (1964) #98
  • Avengers (1963) #177

Podcast Episode 46: Marvel NOW!.1

The Marvel NOW! initiative began about six months ago, and we discuss the titles that started within the first three months, including:

  • Uncanny Avengers
  • Red She Hulk
  • All-New X-Men
  • Thor: God of Thunder
  • FF
  • Fantastic Four
  • Indestructible Hulk
  • Captain America
  • Avengers
  • Hawkeye (Yes, this started before Marvel NOW!, but we also wanted to discuss all Marvel titles that we’re reading now.)

What did we like? What could have been better? Just how successful was this initiative for a couple of old comics readers who weren’t reading a lot of Marvel comics before? You’ll have to listen to find out! Next episode we’ll finish up with the rest of the Marvel NOW! titles.

What I’m looking forward to on New Comics Wednesday!

AVENGERS #1: Jonathan Hickman, fresh off his astounding Fantastic Four run, takes on the Avengers? Yes, please.

HAWKEYE #5: This is a new addition to my pull list. I did my monthly comic shop run last weekend and picked up #1-3 and LOVED this title. Can’t wait to buy and read #4 & 5!

HELLBOY IN HELL #1: I’ve seen the movies (and enjoyed them) and have the first two trades on my bookshelf, but I have never read a Hellboy comic. Ever. With Matt Wagner coming back to the title, I thought I’d try it out on a monthly basis and see what the hype was all about.

LEGENDS OF THE DARK KNIGHT #3: This is fast becoming my favorite Batman comic, and that’s saying something since Batman and Batman and Robin are so very good.

The rest of what I’m getting this week is listed here.
