Here are the comics that I’m getting from this week:
- ASTRO CITY: DARK AGE TP VOL 01: BROTHERS & OTHER STRANGERS
- CONVERGENCE #2
- CONVERGENCE: JUSTICE LEAGUE INTL #1
- FADE OUT #5
- LETTER 44 #15
- MILLENNIUM #4
- OCTOBER FACTION #6
- REVIVAL #29
- SENSATION COMICS FEATURING WONDER WOMAN #9
- STAR TREK #44
- THOR #7
Pick of the week: While I’d like to say the Astro City trade because I haven’t read any of the “Dark City” stuff, I have to give it to Thor #7. I can’t seem to get enough of this story and these characters. This has become my favorite Marvel book, even over Daredevil (and that’s saying something).
Best cover: I couldn’t pick between these two. Plus, I like them both for the coloring jobs. With Sensation Comics (by Francesco Francavilla–wait, really?! That’s a different look for him.), you have color defining and refining the shapes, and I like the simple, almost coloring book simpleness of the palette. With Thor (by Russell Dauterman), I am always amazed at how color artists simulate light, as demonstrated by the Destroyer about to blast our hero. I also like the dual nature of the dark vs light in the cover, mirroring, albeit heavy handedly, the same struggle within the story.
