Favorite TV Shows: Moonlighting (1985-1989)

What a show. I actually came into Moonlighting and the crazy scene stealer that the world would know as Bruce Willis (he had hair!) when the show was in reruns the summer after the first season. I loved the fast talking, overtalking dialog, the singing (shades of The Return of Bruno?), the fourth-wall breaking, the intros to the episodes because the fast talking shorted the episode by a minute or two, and the interplay between David and Maddie. Moonlighting became the template for tv and the “will they or won’t they” romances, and it crashed and burned after the two main characters “got together”. A pity the X-Files and Castle didn’t learn from this. Still, check out this frenetic, fun series.
