New Comics Wednesday 11/20/13

Happy New Comics Wednesday! Here are the comics that I’m getting this week, along with some suggestions of other comics to consider, and a few news tidbits from the last week.

The list:

  • AVENGERS #23
  • BACK ISSUE #69: This wonderful magazine is celebrating its 10th anniversary, so what better way than to spotlight the centennial issues (100, 200, etc.) of various titles. This is my pick of the week.
  • BATMAN AND TWO-FACE #25
  • BATWOMAN #25
  • BRAIN BOY #3
  • DAREDEVIL #33
  • DOCTOR WHO: PRISONERS IN TIME #12: The celebration of Doctor Who’s 50th anniversary comes to a close. I am interested to see how this story will end.
  • RACHEL RISING #21
  • SUPERIOR SPIDER-MAN ANNUAL #1: As the solicitation says, “this one counts!” We’ll see.
  • UNCANNY X-MEN #14
  • THE WAKE #5
  • WONDER WOMAN #25
  • YOUNG AVENGERS #12

Here are several more items out this week for you to consider:

  • FAIREST IN ALL THE LAND HC (Vertigo): I kind of regret not preordering this. But I’m fairly positive I’ll be buying the trade version.
  • HARLEY QUINN #0 (DC Comics): There was a lot of talk about this issue a few months back, and not all of it was very positive. If you’re curious, or are a Harley completist, here you go.
  • NOWHERE MEN tpb v1 (Image Comics): Science is the new rock-n-roll! I’m buying this monthly, but do yourself a favor and buy this–it’ll be a great read in trade.
  • SCOOBY-DOO TEAM-UP #1 (DC Comics): Remember when cartoon Batman and Robin teamed up with Scooby-Doo and the Gang? Well, now they’re doing it in the comic book version.
  • Star Trek Starships Figure Coll Mag #02 USS Enterprise NCC-1701: Man, I wish I had ordered this.
  • Superman Files: Interesting Legion hook, which has me hooked. Maybe I can find this in the bargain section after New Year’s.

Go here for a complete list of comics releasing this week.

And finally, some news:

  • First up, Tiny Titans may be returning for a six-issue mini in 2014. Can you say Aw Yeah? I will be buying two issues–one for me and one for my kids.
  • Did you hear about Batkid and what the Make-A-Wish Foundation did to celebrate this kid? It’s phenomenal.
  • The already bimonthly Sandman: Overture #2 is delayed because of Neil Gaiman. Go harass him on Twitter for me.
  • Young Avengers will be ending after #15. Apparently the writer and artist will have said all they needed to say. More’s the pity.
  • Finally, if you haven’t seen Spider-Man: Turn Off the Dark yet, you may have to hurry: it will be closing on Broadway come January. However, fret not, true believers! It’s planned to reopen in Las Vegas in 2015.
