Happy New Comics Wednesday! Here are the comics that I’m getting this week (what are you buying?), along with a couple other comics to consider, and some news.
The list:
- A1 #6: This anthology series comes to a close.
- ALL-NEW X-MEN #18
- ARCHER AND ARMSTRONG #15
- ASTRO CITY #6
- BATMAN #25
- BATTLESTAR GALACTICA #5: My time with the comic book version of a childhood favorite tv series comes to an end.
- COFFIN HILL #2: This is my pick of the week.
- DOCTOR WHO: PRISONERS OF TIME #11
- JUSTICE LEAGUE OF AMERICA #9
- MANHATTAN PROJECTS #16
- NIGHTWING #25
- ROCKET GIRL #2
- SUPERIOR SPIDER-MAN #21
- SUPERMAN/WONDER WOMAN #2
- THOR: GOD OF THUNDER #15
- WORLDS’ FINEST #15
- X-MEN: GOLD #1: It’s the X-Men’s golden anniversary, so I had to pick this up.
Here’s a couple more items out this week for you to consider:
- JOE KUBERT PRESENTS tpb: If you didn’t pick this up in singles, I urge you do buy the trade. Oddly enough, the best parts of this series wasn’t done by Mr. Kubert, but I thank him for including it.
- SILVER AGE TEEN TITANS ARCHIVES HC VOL 02: Umm, how did I miss this and the first volume?! I have the Showcase Presents version, but the Teen Titans fan and collector in me really wants these hard covers.
Go here for a complete list of comics releasing this week.
And finally, some news (multimedia edition):
- Did you go see Thor: the Dark World? I did, helping the film make over $86M. I enjoyed it a lot. If you haven’t seen it yet, don’t forget to hang around for the mid- and post-credits scenes.
- Will Nightwing be making an appearance in the Man of Steel sequel (along with Wonder Woman)? This fan hopes so.
- Rob Thomas of Veronica Mars fame is developing iZombie for the CW. Here’s hoping the show holds my attention longer than did the comic. I would love it if the production of the show somehow channeled Mike Allred’s art from the series.
- Mark your calendars: Star Wars: Episode VII is scheduled to open December 18, 2015.
- Finally, and perhaps most important, Marvel and Netflix announced that they will be producing individual series (you can’t really call these tv series, right?) featuring Daredevil, Jessica Jones, Iron Fist, and Luke Cage! That will be followed by a Defenders miniseries, presumably featuring all of these characters. I am very excited about this. As a long-time DC fan, I have to wonder what the hell is DC doing to get their characters out to the general public, hmm?
