Happy New Comics Wednesday! Here are the comics that I’m getting this week (what are you buying?), along with a smattering of other comics to consider, and some news.
The list:
- ACTION COMICS #25: Looking forward to what Greg Pak will bring to the character.
- ALEX + ADA #1: Really looking forward to this Jonathon Luna production.
- DAREDEVIL: DARK NIGHTS #6
- DOCTOR WHO: PRISONERS OF TIME #10
- DRUMHELLAR (PREVIOUSLY STRANGEWAYS) #1: Based on the description for #1, I think “Strangeways” was a better title.
- EARTH 2 #17
- EAST OF WEST #7
- FATALE #18
- FOREVER EVIL #3
- GREEN LANTERN #25
- LEGENDS OF RED SONJA #1
- MIGHTY AVENGERS #3
- SUPERMAN UNCHAINED #4
- TEN GRAND #5: My LFtM (Looking Forward the Most) pick of the week.
- AMAZING X-MEN #1: Just buying it for the curiosity factor; I haven’t preordered beyond this issue.
- BATMAN/SUPERMAN #5: I’m intrigued by the horizontal storytelling format.
Here’s a few more items out this week for you to consider:
- If you were waiting for the trade, now you can read the Batman: Night of the Owls tpb.
- Is anyone picking up those DC Essentials? If so, Justice League #1 comes out today.
- Wow, the Official DC Super Hero Cookbook is being released today. Along with over 50 fun recipes, “kids will enjoy flipping through the fabulous finish photos for inspiration”. Uh huh.
- Oh, good god: A Very Klingon Khristmas.
- The Hawkeye (or Hawkguy, if you prefer) vol. 1 HC contains 12 issues, for those who like that kind of collection.
- I thought about ordering this: Longshot Saves the Marvel Universe #1.

And finally, some news:
- First of all, Nick Cardy died on Sunday. I know and appreciate his work from the Teen Titans issues that I have. CBR put together a bunch of Cardy covers–check them out.
- Saga wins yet another award: best comic/graphic novel at the 2013 British Fantasy Awards.
- An episode of Agents of SHIELD will tie in to the latest Thor movie. I wonder how that will go for people who don’t watch the movie, but watch the tv series (I’m sure there are a few)?
- Speaking of television, the CW is developing a series based on Hourman?! I would love to see this since Hourman is one of my favorite Golden Age DC characters.
- Dan DiDio hinted about another weekly series, supposedly called Five Years Later. As I tweeted earlier today, I just want good stories set in the now, not some flash forward event to boost sales for that month. But to be fair, I should wait to see what actually becomes of this.
- Finally, Bill Willingham announced that Fables will end with #150. I also learned that Fairest will also be ending shortly before that.
